Jasper Dong
Hello! My name is Jasper Dong, and I am currently pursuing a M.S. in Statistics at the University of Washington, Seattle. I previously earned my B.S. in Statistics at the University of California, Davis, with a concentration in Statistical Data Science and a minor in Geographic Information Systems.
My interests lie mostly in data analytics and data science applications to the social sciences and environmental fields. Recently, I’ve been more interested in ML/AI modeling, specifically in ML/AI safety and validation. My undergraduate research - done under the mentorship of Maike Sonnewald in the UC Davis Department of Computer Science - was focused on applying concepts from traditional hypothesis testing to modern clustering algorithms, with applications to physical oceanography data.
I am excited to share that I will be joining Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory’s (LLNL) Data Science Summer Institute (DSSI) program as a Graduate Student Intern for Summer 2026! I will be looking forward to collaborating with a team of mentors and fellow interns in tackling novel research problems.
I will be on the job market after graduating in March 2027 for any roles in data science, analytics, ML/AI engineering, and anything tangently related. Please reach out to me via my professional email jasper.dong.2003@gmail.com for opportunities to interview for any internships or full-time roles that will be open during that time. Thank you!
